Airlie Beach was, as expected, very beautiful but notably tourist-y with multiple hostels and hotels in the strip that makes up the main street. Loads of food joints, some good, some not so great!
With so much sunshine, there wasn't much to do other than swim, drink, eat and explore a little. Just what I needed, a week of total relaxation and of meeting new people- hostels are fantastic for that! I've added some recommendations (see my TripAdvisor for those I would definitely NOT recommend...) Accomodation Magnums Airlie Beach
Breakfast Garuma Cafe
Drinks La Tabella Trattoria
Dinner Lovely India
For your entertainment GBR from the sky- Air Whitsundays- a must do! I little pricey but, hey, it is why you're so far up north, right?! (reviewed) Shed Bar- next door, part of Nomads hostel- theme nights, decently priced drinks, popular Ra Natural Heath- next door and uupstairs to Garuma (reviewed) Airlie Beach Lagoon- the main part of Airlie, very clean, tidy and plenty of shade or sun with food and drinks nearby Beach Book Boutique- right by the lagoon, 2nd hand book shop (and new books!) with a return and exchange policy
